Prevent Care

Preventive dental care is important for every person, at every age. Take the time to practice good oral hygiene at home and schedule regular visits at our dental office. It’s the key to keeping your smile bright and healthy for years to come.

Our Yorkville dentists clinic prioritizes preventive dentistry. We want to make sure you get the most out of your office visits, and that you maintain your teeth for a lifetime. We work with you to provide complete dental care, and show you how to maintain your smile at home.

Regular dental checkups are a critical part of maintaining your oral health. During your regular checkup, your hygienist will:

  • Check for any problems that you may not see or feel
  • Look for cavities or other signs of tooth decay:
    • Inspect your teeth and gums for gingivitis and signs of periodontal disease:
    • gum recession
    • inflammation
    • swelling in the gums or other soft tissues
    • broken or fractured teeth or dental work
  • Do a preliminary screening for oral cancer.
  • Provide a thorough cleaning.

Our hygienists are your personal trainers for oral health. They will recommend cleaning appointments every three, four or six months, depending on your needs. They may also create a personalized periodontal schedule tailored to your specific situation.

Every six months, your visit will involve an oral exam. These checkups are also a great time for you to find out about any new treatments that may benefit the health of your teeth or the appearance of your smile.

If you play sports, ask us about custom-fit mouth guards. Their design protects your teeth from injury during hockey, football and basketball. There is even evidence suggesting mouthguards can improve athletic performance and recovery.

We are committed to helping you maintain a healthy mouth, and will design a periodontal hygiene program that fits your needs. If it's been six months since your last check up, it's time to schedule your next appointment. Schedule an appointment today!
